Always drive safely and according to the conditions – don’t become another statistic.
Red routes are roads that carry a high level of risk of suffering a serious or fatal crash. Across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington, twenty roads have been identified as Red Routes, and can be identified by their distinctive signs. The signs warn road users of the potential risks to them and the number of casualties on that route during a three-year period.
Although we enforce along entire Red Routes through our speed enforcement vehicles, we also use a number of other effective tools in keeping you safe on the roads. These are often referred to as the set of E's: Education (Training and Publicity), Engineering, Enforcement and Engagement.
Red Routes have been selected based on detailed analysis of road collision and casualty data from the Partnership agencies . Greatest priority has been given to those routes that are experiencing the most severe collisions resulting in serious injury or death.
