The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 came into force on 1 January 2005. Under the Act, anybody may request information from a public authority that has functions in England, Wales and/or Northern Ireland. The Act gives applicants two statutory rights:
Although the Cheshire Safer Roads Partnership (CSRP) does not qualify as a public authority, its member partners do. Therefore, in the interests of openness and transparency, the Partnership will act as much as possible like a public body in relation to the Act. Although the information requested could be held by any one or more of the Partner organisations, all FOI requests will be logged.
